Last Friday, Year 5 had a fabulous day building arcade games out of cardboard as a part of our Second Annual Cardboard Challenge. It was a Design Technology project that was inspired by a YouTube video about Caine’s Arcade. We put on our creative caps and designed and made our own games, mostly from cardboard boxes.
During the day we spent hours making and perfecting our games, writing signs and the rules of play. It took a lot of work, sometimes a bit of trial and error and some “thinking like an engineer” to get our games to work. We found out that it is trickier than it looks!
In the afternoon we had some parent guests and we all got to play each other’s games. We had an afternoon of challenges, games, prizes and laughter. It was so much fun that we didn’t want to go home!
