Here are some fantastic links to support learning and reading at home from the Sunshine Coast Libraries. Online membership is available and gives immediate access to the Sunshine Coast eLibrary. If you aren’t in the Sunshine Coast Council area you can still join. It’s also a good idea to check your local Public Library service to access their services and consider becoming a member of the State Library of Queensland.
The eLibrary is a one stop resource for students and families with a range of databases, sites, audiobooks, eBooks, music and movies. There are pages with Primary and Secondary resources to make learning fun, as well as a page dedicated to reading and writing for teens. Check out the Things to do at home activities and the Weekly Laugh. For those with younger children there is a dedicated Parents and Toddler page that has Rhymes and Stories at home, as well as access to Toddler Tuesday clips.
The eLibrary also includes online reading challenges to keep students engaged with popular titles and to aid them in learning how to use the eLibrary. Registration is via Beanstack, the Sunshine Coast Libraries online platform. The challenges include:
- Digital Detectives for ages 6-14. It’s also good for adults to gain an overview of all the resources available with a library card
- The Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Book Challenge for ages 6- 13
- Was it something I read? Book challenge for ages 13-18+
What a fantastic array of resources to support students and families! Enjoy exploring everything the Sunshine Coast Libraries and the State Library of Queensland have to offer.
