Sophie wins State Award

Sophie Trevan has won a very prestigious award at the Queensland State Little Athletics Championships held in Townsville. Sophie won the George Harvey Leadership Award which is awarded to an athlete in the 15 – 17-year-age group each year at the State Championships. The award acknowledges athletes who have shown leadership qualities in inspiring and helping younger athletes gain passion and skills in their local club. They also need to show respect and perseverance and be a fantastic ambassador for Little Athletics. Sophie won this award ahead of athletes from 70 other Little Athletics Clubs in Queensland and has been involved in athletics since she was six year old.

Many athletes from our college competed at the State Championships with many gaining top 10 placings. Sophie won silver in the 16-year-old girls’ High Jump event which was a great way to end her Little Athletics involvement.

It is great to see so many students competing at this level and we congratulate them all for reaching the State Championships.
