This year’s Secondary Athletics Carnival was held at Skippy Park. A large number of athletes from Sinai, Ararat and Zion showed up to participate in events ensuring maximum participation points.
The beautiful weather and excellent track and field facilities provided a great day out for all spectators. The competition was hard fought and the lead between houses changed regularly. Student participation was extremely high, as all present took part in the majority of events.
This year we had a total of 21 GCC Athletic records broken across all events.This is an increase on the 19 records broken in 2016. A special mention goes to Cassidy Ferris who managed to break a total of five long standing records.

High Jump – Ebony King, Sophie Trevan, Reece Dahm.
Triple Jump – Cassidy Ferris.
Javelin – Liam Rush, Cassidy Ferris, Sophie Trevan.
800m – Natasha Hoeksema
Age champions will be announced next week, as some results still need to be finalised.
Well done to Zion for winning this year’s Secondary Athletics Carnival. Last year’s winners, Sinai finished in second place followed by Ararat.
