Primary students competing at Quest State Finals

The Quest State Finals were held at the University of Queensland on Saturday 10 November. This year, Abi Viney, Matthew O’Shea and Samantha Dickens represented GCC, winning the Science category in the Prep to Year 3 division.

The Quest is an academic competition that incorporates the main disciplines of Mathematics, Sciences and Humanities. The Quest starts with a regional event that is held over two days in November. On the first day of the Preliminary Quest, the teams rotate through the three disciplines in preparation for each of the challenges they have to solve, as a team, on the second day. Abi, Matthew and Samantha came first overall in their division for the Sunshine Coast region. This qualified them to compete at the State Finals.

Special mention should also be given to our Year 6 students, Dominique Doolan, Sebastian Catton and Brooke Gledhill, who qualified in third place at the Regionals. They also got to compete at the State Finals, doing their best in a very tough competition.
