GCC girls make it through to the Touch Football Grand Final

This week four GCC teams played off in the SCISSA Touch Football Semi Finals. A win here ensures a spot in a Grand Final in Week 10. These teams have had some fantastic wins throughout the season to make it to this point and we congratulate them on their efforts. Congratulations to the Junior Girls’ A team for winning their game vs Sunshine Coast Grammar 3-2. The girls were down at half time 0-2 but fought their way back to hit the lead just before full time.

In other games, the intermediate boys were ahead at half time 3-1. St Andrews then scored a couple of quick tries and the GCC boys lost their structure in the second half allowing St Andrews to take the ascendancy. The GCC junior boys’ teams rucked the ball well and made up a lot of ground throughout their games. They put in some valiant efforts against Matthew Flinders however struggled to convert at the try line. If these boys can stay together, there will be enough improvements to see them go deeper into the finals series next year.

Semi Final results are as follows:
Junior boys A Lost to MFAC 5-11. Best player Lincoln McKenzie.
Junior boys B Lost to MFAC 1-11. Best player Cody Hall.
Intermediate Boys A Lost to SAAC. 4-6. Best player Jacob Barbeler.
Junior Girls A Defeated SCGS 3-2. All played well.
