Year 10

The 2018 QTAC Tertiary Prerequisities Books were distributed to all Year 10 students last week. They are an essential guide for choosing senior subjects and finding out about the course entry requirements.  Students have been told that it is vital they keep these books until the end of Year 12. The prerequisites are now “set in stone” for courses that your child may wish to study once they finish  school in 2017.

This is your hard copy to retain. We will also be uploading the link to the PDF file on Connect for your convenience.

Year 9 and 12 QTAC Information Evening and Careers Expo

Letters will be sent out in the pupil free week with information regarding the upcoming Careers Expo and Information Evening held at GCC on 5 August. This is an evening where Heads of Department will be  available to discuss subject choices for Year 9 students going into Year 10. Guests from the universities, TAFE, apprenticeship centres as well as the Defence Force and other industries have also been invited and we anticipate that there will be an exciting array of displays for you to have a look at.  There will also be a presentation for Year 9s about subject selections and a further presentation to Year 12 students on the QTAC application process.

Year 10 SET Plans

Full details regarding booking SET Plan interviews will be included with reports once they are sent to you in Week 3 of the holidays. There will also be details about the upcoming excursion to the Sunshine Coast Daily Careers Expo on Tuesday 21 July (the second day of Term 3).

Online viewing of the Guide is possible http://www.qtac.edu.au/about-qtac/publications and they do provide an order form with a charge of $38.00 if you require a further copy.  This guide is extremely important in assisting students to do their QTAC application.

Year 12s are encouraged to check out the Sunshine Coast Daily Careers Expo that is on at USC in week 1 of Term 3.  Please be aware that many TAFEs, universities and other tertiary providers are holding open days over the next few months.  Students intending to go onto one of these should make every effort to attend their open days.
