Primary Student Council helps Ingham flood victims

At the end of Term 1, the Primary Student Council held a free dress day with the goal of raising money for people affected by severe flooding in North Queensland. Our Primary students put in a big effort and raised the amazing sum of $914.20. This money has been directly donated to the Ingham Community Kindergarten and Preschool who were inundated during the flood crisis. Have a look at the photos below to see just how much water they had running through their property:

Before the floods this small community kindergarten received a grant to improve their grounds but unfortunately, the flood destroyed much of their newly improved yard as well as equipment stored in their outside shed. The total amount of the funds raised are going directly to the kindergarten to help replace equipment lost during the flood. Sara Barbagello, the Director of the Kindergarten, was amazed by the donation and I would like to pass on her words of appreciation:

“I cannot express my thanks enough to you, your students and school. It warms my heart to be on the receiving end of such kindness and generosity. Please pass on our sincerest thanks to all involved in this donation. It will truly make such a huge difference to the lives of the children who attend our kindy.”

Thank you to all Primary students and families who donated to this very worthy cause. I would especially like to note that the Primary Student Representative Council (SRC) voted overwhelmingly to support others in need rather than invest in equipment for our own Primary school. We should all be proud of this fantastic group of young leaders and their desire to bless others.
