This term the Year 3 and 4 classes had the opportunity to participate in a soccer competition. This competition ran every Wednesday at first break. 8 teams were put together and they were split into two divisions, having 4 games played each week.
It was very good to see how enthusiastic and excited the students were as they arrived each week and it was lovely to see their commitment and good sportsmanship.
Year 6 students kindly gave up their lunch break in order to come and ref the games; a big mention goes to Daniel Coumi who volunteered to come every week.
As the competition came to an end, it was time for finals. The grand final was played off between the Barcelona and Manchester United teams who were very equal in ability making it a close game. At the end of the grand final, no one had scored a goal. The game then had to be replayed at 2nd break in order to get a winner. And once again it was very close with the ending score being 1-0 with Barcelona being the champions.
Barcelona team members were Brock Eales, Jasper Menkins, Jarod Keeble, Archer Palmer, Ashton Flint, Vinn Rogers and Jay Marshall. The Manchester United members were Beau Quinlan, Uyapo Kombanie, Eli Hardy-Abdi, Ben Chidgey, Nicholas James, Jake McGilvray, Noah Cobb and Jake Barker.
It was a great competition and it was fantastic to see so much participation and improvement over the weeks.
