Chloe Turnbull had a busy week as she competed in the Triathlon State Championships held in Hervey Bay after having already swum in the Regional Swimming Championships just days before.
Chloe qualified for the Aquathon event last year and her race comprised of a 1km run, 200m swim and 1km run to finish. There were about 100 competitors in her 12 year old race and some very professional triathletes among them.
Chloe’s strength is her swim leg so she did well to be in the middle of the field after the first 1km run where pushing and jostling at the start was the norm. She went into the swim in about 60th position and passed many many swimmers to emerge in about 20th place. Her swim was spectacular. The transitions were very smooth and the last run was the toughest part of the race. Chloe held her form and ran strongly to the finish and placed a very creditable 63rd place.
This was a great experience for her and she is keen to compete in more similar events in the future.
